Hitchens comes across too strong and he should speak more like Richard Dawkins. Dawkins > Hitchens, but they are both pretty cool.

Agreed. I, too, am a big fan if Hitchens but I think sometimes he should back off just a tiny bit and maybe let his opponents finish their point. Maybe then he wouldn't be making those mistakes Clumsy mentioned. Great arguement though.

Obviously, no one can deal with these issues with a couple minutes of sound-bites. It helps, however, to have a British accent.

I agree with Hitchens' general views on Falwell, but I think you did a pretty good job rasining some of the weaknesses / discrepancies in his comments. Most people come away from an encounter with Hitchens looking completely pathetic (see the Hannity "interview). You stood up for yourself very well. This is the way TV commentators should act!

Hitchens is right, of course, but I agree with Mr. Metaxas that he hurts his own argument by taking such a caustic tone. Along with Dawkins, he's helping to reinforce all of the negative stereotypes about atheists--that we're arrogant, prideful, and lacking in compassion.

Hitchens is a hard guy to challenge. Metaxas was correct though, I love hearing the stuff he says but it's too rough for mainstream. Most people are turned off by insulting a dead person, even one as bad as Falwell.
Of course those ignorant enough to think Falwell a good man are doubly angry.
