Shipshawana, Indiana

When my daughter Brooke and I were driving from PA to CO last weekend we saw a sign for "Shipshawana" and we just had to go see what in tarnation a Shipshawana was! It was a gorgeous Amish community. Unfortunately it was a Sunday morning and everything was closed. There weren't even many people around, they were probably in church or something. We enjoyed ourselves as usual, being silly girls.

The "Blue Gate" is a fabulous place to eat in Shipshewana. Also, Shipshewana is known for their high quality, hand-crafted furniture. It makes for a nice day trip.

We have a summer house near shipshewana. We go there every summer. Just so you know, Amish do not believe in photography nor do they allow having their picture taken

Hi. I used to live near Shipshewana when I was younger. On some days I would ride my bike with my dad and my brother to Shipshewana. It's a cool place to visit.
