He really thinks ALL the people would do bad things that provides a small gain for themselves and inflict massive pain on others would do so, if they got away with it? Really?
Of course some people would, some people are doing that today. But definitely not all people.

@ThePhantom135 I sure as shit don't.

I love the argument "if people think they can get away with something and have no consequences", as if we live in the old west where there's no laws. Isn't jail a pretty good punishment for crime? And legal fees, and hassle, and yadda yadda.

@ThePhantom135 and then god said, thou shalt not be a dick. if someone needs to hear that then they cant be too smart, it's just common sense really.

Is it not so simple to see how religion is being used as a tool for the government to control the masses? The government keeps putting money into building such religious schools to brainwash the young so that when they are older they will not question as much and they will be easier to persuade.Can people not realize the close ties here???

@ThePhantom135 thank you!

@DDrogba113 please don´t put in my mouth arguments I haven´t used (such as that thumb argument I never said explicitly or implicitly).Please don´t mistake perfection the way you are using it with the way I´m using it (you are most probably using in an absolute way, I am talking about sub-optimal solutions that have predefined objectives to optimize; i.e. you are using "perfect" as in "God is perfect", I am using "perfect" in a mathematical sense).Please don´t commit petitio principii
thank science for the internet.

I once spoke to a protestant priest who, to my surprise, said:
1. he believed in the fact of evolution
2. he doesn't believe in god as a "person"
3. he sees god as 'something' man can not comprehend, but 'it' is there
4. that the people who wrote the bible were naturally confined within their empirical reach, thus should NOT taken word for word
5. but embraces the word of Christ as in a philosophy of peace
Although I'd take it even further, he actually made sense.
