This fall, members of UCLA Extension's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute indulged in a delectable class entitled "The Ultimate Cheese Course." Taught by Melody Dosch, owner of the Artisan Cheese Gallery in Studio City, Calif., the class featured a lecture and a sampling of a wide variety of cheeses. The students tasted 30 different cheeses from the U.S., Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. To compliment the cheeses, Ms. Dosch brought along cider, pears, honey, pickled onions, and olive and caviar spreads. The students were encouraged to mix, match, and recommend their favorite combinations to their classmates. It was, all in all, a tasty and educational exploration of the world of cheese.
