  • i have dual core 3ghz and in cpu z it says that my core speed is only 1.6ghz (1595mhz)..i want 3000!!!...pls help meee

  • @TheZASTAVA750 Download a stress test utility, such as Orthos (google for it), and start it running- then check CPU-Z again while the stress test runs.

If you see the full 3GHz, then it's SpeedStep throttling the CPU, and you've got nothing to worry about- it'll speed up and slow down automatically when needed.

If it's still down at 1.6 under load, you CPU isn't configured correctly in BIOS.

  • @grahamlord86 this is so ****ed up man...on orthos when i run stress test it says 2998mhz (3ghz) and on cpu-z it says 1595mhz .

  • @TheZASTAVA750 This is what SpeedStep does.

When the CPU is idle, SpeedStep down-clocks it, reducing power consumption, heat, and noise.

When the CPU is under load, it clocks back up to it's full speed automatically in an instant.

This is why you're seeing full speed under load, and half-speed when idling in CPU-Z

You can turn off SpeedStep in BIOS, and then you'll see 3.0GHz at idle as well.

  • Nice video, what program is that?

  • @IS91Videos Ta- sorry about the crap quality! Video was just a quick demo to someone on a forum!

Stress test was Orthos, nice little CPU and RAM stress test. Measurements were taken on CPU-Z, and then Task Manager to check load levels.
