Here's a musical novelty worth a listen or two. Al joined Frank's band for an encore - during a 1981 show at The Ritz, New York. I added the following track, Strictly Genteel, just to fill the time out.

Not that I'm minded to do Al any favours, after he "pulled the plug" halfway through his 2009 Australian tour. I turned up at The Basement, Sydney with my tickets - only to find the venue closed for the night!

I don't think we'll see him back here in a hurry, either. Oh well, I've still got my t-shirt (somewhere) for the 1983 Al + John + Paco (+ Steve Morse) tour.

  • So cool that a musician as great as Al Dimeola would play onstage with Frank Zappa.

  • The audio is good, I have always liked Al, and FZ, but the video doesn't sync up at all, nothing syncs. "That" sucks...

  • @derek4ur Give me a break.

  • @duster71 Sober up. it NEVER happened...unless it was the night that Frank played with Abba in reno.

  • @LDG21461 thx for the clue...I only knew him by name and he sort of impressed me here playing like Santana but much better...after what u said I will cool down and stick to Jimi

  • LOL, Dito in my youth some of the guys I hung around with were into him heavily....Later, it turns out one of the guys I worked with had a masters in music. I remember asking him so what do you think of DiMeola and his playing. His response was "from a musical standpoint that's not playing that's masterbation"...LOL.

Now you have to know this guy was very articulate....so to hear him speak like that Ha Ha Ha Ha. I think he was trying to be nice. Peace and Love Baby.

  • I like Al here, but best with John Mclaughlin, and Paco De Lucia "Friday Night In San Francisco."
