From Champ's solo CD Bon Haven. This song was written about Champ by the late Uncle Walt Hyatt, Champ's friend and musical cohort. The pictures are from all over the web and the soundtrack is from my CD of Champ. Champ Hood August 16th, 1952-November 3rd,2001. We miss you buddy.
Thanks Niles Fuller aka austinphotographer on YouTube, that means do a search, for a couple of your copyrighted photos from 1984 (where did the time go?) and thanks everyone else. Oh yeah, and aka means: also known as. It's easy to forget the things you think everybody knows but sometimes don't. I do. I lost track of what came from where but if you want credit tell me which pictures are your's and I'll add that information here in the description.
Forgive me my trespasses as I forgive those who trespass against me. Wisegeorge

This is exactly how I envision the afterlife, if there is any. Goin' to New Orleans in the Cosmos. Is it Heaven or is it Hell? Hell no, it's New Orleans, it's both.

I spent dozens of nights ib Spartanburg SC at Hooleys Underground listening to Uncle Walts band. They were mind blowingly good for the times. They even used to play on the steps at high school! I miss them both. I'm happy tho that David has survived the times even if he did go Country! LOL Dale

Another nice song with a nice tribute. Would have loved to have known both Champ and Walter and to have seen the Uncle Walt's trio live. I'm friends with Walters' daughter. Hi Hay.

I confess that I'm not too familiar with Champ's music, except for his exceptional fiddle and guitar work on Toni Price's album 'Sol Power'. I was at the Kerrville Folk Festival this year(been volunteering there for 12 years) and I heard a most beautiful song that Karen Abrahams wrote for Champ Hood. It brought a tear to my eye, very powerful, but sad and sweet at the same time.
