Me on Jack Thompson and Game Violence - Part 5

WARNING! VERY LONG! OVER 40 MINUTES!

Just stuff I have to say about Jack Thompson, Hillary Clinton and all the other idiots who say video games are the cause of a lot of violence in the world.

Throughout my life I have been experiencing the psychological system. I'm the youngest in my family and every kid in my family was adopted at a young age. I grew up with a severely mentally retarded sister (not drooling and shit, but where she cant make good simple decisions) and a slightly retarded brother (also caused by brain damage but nowhere near as much).

My sister was born with major brain damage due to her mom drinking during pregnancy. Because of this she has a very hard time doing even simple things, she becomes very violent at times and she is easily moved by things such as violence and sex in music and movies. She is in the care of the state now but ever since she was about 8 she has been seeing psychiatrists, been admitted to hospitals and has been on too many different medications to count.

My brother has a missing gland as well as minor brain damage. Can't remember what caused it but I do remember it was something his mom was doing during pregnancy. He acts fine most of the time but easily becomes very happy and hyper or very upset where he likes to break shit (but i cant recall a time he tried to hurt anyone). He also has a growth problem. He had to take steroids his whole life to grow as much as he did. He is now maxed out at a little over 5 feet tall.

We recently adopted 2 kids from the healing the children program. My new sister isn't retarded but the new brother is. Since he is so young we don't know how bad but he is a little bit. He has a hard time comprehending what you are saying to him but other than that hes fine.

They also have other problems, some major and some minor. I don't need to list them all. Point is, I have grown up in life surrounded by the psychiatric system. I know how they handle things, I know their studies, I know what they are capable of.

Jack Thompson is reading text and trying to act like an expert. He has no experience with the system at all, or if he does, very very little (though he should be put in it if you ask me.... hes insane). I have a whole life full of experience with the system. So sorry Mr Thompson, but people who have lived with family that are in the system actually know what they are talking about, unlike you.

So here are things that Jack said that ARE true and I agree with. If it isn't listed, I don't agree with it because its not true. So I don't need to list them.

1) YES, video games can cause violence. Its called experience. You are experiencing. However, video games have NEVER directly caused or influenced a major act of violence. Video games can effect us like anything else. But they don't just effect us in bad ways some times, but in good ways as well. According to studies by the same people Jack is referring to, AND BY COMMON FUCKING SENSE I might add, video games also help lower the level of violence. People are starting to call video games interacting therapy and interactive punching bags. People have been known to relieve stress and tensing using video games. These are people that are just a little angry, very angry, or simple want something to relax and enjoy thus making them feel comfortable and soothed. If Jack Thompson mentioned this it would ruin his little mission to try and bring the game industry down.

2) The video game industry is not responsible for content creating by the people that use their products. If a person grabbed a video editing program and edited in some boobs to a G rated movie, you can't re-rate the movie because of it. It doesn't work that way. So if some one created the hot coffee mod, if some one makes the nudity mod for oblivion, you CAN'T raise the rating of the game because of it. The game doesn't feature that content and therefore the content can't be considered during the rating process. People not associated with the company that created the game made and distributed such modifications and add-ons. People who actually have the add-on's did the act of adding it on at their own discretion.

I play violent video games all the time (I only have a 360 so there's not much else lol) and if you gave me a gun in real life, I would have no fucking clue how to reload it. Games do not cause violence, people do.

I agree with you completely! I grew up in a christian home, yet my parents let me play games. Hell I played the Atari when I was 5, and some of the titles were considered bad in their time. My cousin had every console created at the time and when I came over I played with him every time. Hell I was playing Mortal Kombat before I was 9. If video games turned me into some fuckin maniac, then I would've done it already...

when I was younger my mom wouldn't let me play shooting games because she thought it would affect my mind. My dad was cool about it because he knew I wouldn't go crazy and start shooting people. So my dad let me buy some games and after realizing that the games don't affect me, my mom stopped caring. Now I can buy whatever I want like gears of war and COD
