AWESOME handgun! I love mine!

The Black slides is an "Alloy Steel" with Nitordox finish.
Which would you recommend, stainless steel or black slide?
I was going to get a Glock 19, but I like the added features of the SR9C and it's compact size. What sold me on it was the Front Slide Serrations and adjustable rear sight. II have also heard good things about the trigger.

@eamonher alwas clean it first. there may be stuff left over from the production processe left in it. also you dont know how long the gun has been sitting on the shelf at the store so some of the parts may need to be lubracated

Just got mine today love it.

I have put 800 rounds though mine and it has been flawless I couldn't be more impressed with my first gun

Can you shoot non jacketed lead bullets through the barrel or is it not recommended?

just picked mine up and i thought i would never say this but...i like it better than my glock. (was that my outside voice?)

Love my Glocks so this had to be perfect. Only 237 rounds through it so far and it has been flawless.

This is the best sub compact you can buy! I have purchased this pistol and truely believe it is under priced at least $75. Get it while you can!!!

@rugerfirearms is the sr9c as reliable as the glock I know its brand new but i havent heard anything about wet conditions, or torture tests will it stand up to unforseen brutality?

i just bought it can i shoot it straight out of the box? or do i clean it first? if so why?
he said a black alloy steel slide and thats not correct because both guns have stainless steel slides the black one is just treated with nitrodox or something.

@Nicho2177
For the full-sized SR9, both the stainless and blackened versions have stainless steel slides. However, the stainless SR9c has a stainless steel slide but the blackened model's slide is actually made from alloy. The alloy slide is then treated with a high-tech, Nitrodox Pro Black finish for extra strength and durability. This finish is more expensive, but using an alloy slide instead of stainless steel allows us to keep the two compact models the same price.

blankthree 1 year ago
@blankthree The SR9 and SR9c do not use the same magazines as the P95.

@RugerFirearms . when will they become availabe. also what is the break in count of the sr9c. i shot about 75 rounds and it stove piped around 3 or 4 times. was told it will probably stop doing that after it is broken in.

@hawkdogie SR9c's are available now and have been shipping since January, 2010. "Break in" counts will vary from model to model, but continued shooting will likely result in improved performance.
