How much time do you spend searching for flights? A new travel website called "Hipmunk" aims to cut that time drastically, by offering easy searches and quick, detailed results on everything from flight times and durations to prices and layovers for each flight. All of this information is displayed on one interface and it can can be filtered, allowing travelers to pick the flight that best suits their needs.

Hipmunk, which launched on August 17, 2010, is the brain child of co-founders Steve Huffman and Adam Goldstein. Huffman co-founded the social bookmarking site Reddit and Goldstein is the co-founder of Book Tour and author of ''AppleScript: The Missing Manual.''

Users who want to search for flights using Hipmunk can specify what airline they'd prefer to fly and filter out those they don't want to do business with. In addition, Hipmunk will display the type of plane for each flight listed. Users can also filter out certain flights by dragging a special bar across the page. Flights are "scored" on Hipmunk based on several factors - including price, number of stops, departure and arrival times and flight duration. To see the flights with the highest rating, click the "Agony" tab at the top of the page.

Currently, Hipmunk is only using Orbitz to book flights. According to TechCrunch, Huffman has said that "in the future, Hipmunk will integrate with other travel services."

Why the name Hipmunk? Goldstein's girlfriend is apparently responsible. Golstein told CNN Money that when they were trying to come up with a company name, his girlfriend said "If you pick a small, cute animal and a good logo you'll never go wrong." Hipmunk's logo features an animated chipmunk wearing a pair of flight goggles, arms outstretched in flight.
