Before former President Ford passed away, he spoke out against Dubya and the war very forcefully.

Further, DeFrank reports that Ford did NOT favor withdrawing from Iraq, even after it became a quagmire. Funny, we haven't seen a follow-up by Anderson Cooper on this, I wonder why.

I personally oppose the war, but this sort of mainstream media bias is unforgiveable. Ford was a decent and honorable man and I disagree with him on this issue. He does not deserve to have his views twisted by these alleged "journalists".

does anyone here remember what it was like living under Gerald Ford? history books in school never really talked about him. what was going on at that time?

i know there was all that stuff about Watergate but that's about Nixon and maybe something about the party, which could be what got Carter elected. not to mention it's hard to get a 3rd term. basically i never hear about Ford, except i do know some of the greatest films came out during his 2 years. and Saigon fell of course in 1975.

War is always the big difference in Democrats and Republicans. Arrogant Bush Republicans are not about sanctions and want to use aggression as a means of convincing people of their plan to control outcomes. The Middle East can't be controlled we have been at it with those people for year since the OPEC Oil Embargo 1973 it's the oil capital of the world. Republicans don't use common sense approaches to anything just conflict.

Ford was a wise and great man. Though the war may have been a mistake, the outcome has changed the balance of power in the middle east, and made the terrorist nations of the region think twice. We need to bring the troops home or at least put them on bases, yes bases like the one in Cuba.

Interesting. Woodward obviously has an axe to grind and inserted words into Ford's mouth - notice that we don't hear a direct quote from Jerry that he opposed the war, when he could've easily said so. What we DO hear is a quote that is in line with Thomas DeFrank's October 2007 book "Write it When I'm Gone" - WMD was a dubious justification for war, but the war WAS justified because Saddam was an evil man. That's quite a different story, and one that the twinkie media doesn't want to report.
