What needs to said about BN4 hacking is in the vid. These unused navis (in their SP form) are similar to Shademan; they can only be damaged by sword type chips (I figured that out after I did this). My guess was that they were going to be used in the story (possibly both forms), but didn't make it. They only have two forms, normal and SP. I'm not sure if they were going to be used in the torny, because there are also two unused tornament map icons that just say 18 and 19. Oh, I forgot to mention that Laserman is the ONLY navi you can use as an ally without freezing the game 2 seconds into the fight. Also, the battle chips appeared over Laserman (don't know why, but it shows how poor the battle system is), and hacked battles changes your HP. I had 780 and when the battle started it jumped to 2200! Fortunatly, the effects aren't permanent.

  • is it possible to attack hack? Like give protoman gundelsol or something?

  • @Bladecrossexe The problem with BN4 is the battle system is poorly designed. If someone were to try it, the game would probably crash over and over. It can't handle allies even, except for Laserman (others causes the game to crash).

  • @MegamanSonicX I know this comment was from 3 months ago, but the battle system was designed to suit the game's needs.

BN6 supports allies well, as the Virus Battler needed ally support.

Answering bladecross's question, yes it is. In an indirect way though. You would have to replace the attack data. I have some offsets, but I don't have many.

  • @ablon008 Nemo on TREZ said it was poorly designed. Also, if you look at BN 1, 2, and 3, they can support allies, even though I don't think there are any scenarios with that. Also, comparing BN4 to the others, it isn't as stable.I'm sure Capcom didn't have hacking in mind when they made the BN series, but the others can handle it so much better. Did BN4 go with a different engine that is not that stable with hacking?

  • those aren't unused navis, those are viruses from black earth

  • well... since I love this game I gotta defend it :):

    - the battle system may have its flaws, but in the normal course of gameplay I never had any problem with it

    - thes "unused guys" are actually used in the game, they appear in murkland...

BTW: when posting these vids, wouldn't it make sense to also post the codes etc, so we can try it out for ourselves ? Seems kinda sensless without that.

  • @MegamanSonicX First, BN1, 2 and 3 do not support allies at all.

Nemo of TREZ is not a hacker.

They did not design the game to be hacked, so you can't really call the system unstable, if it work perfectly for what it is designed to do.

Also, this is very low-level hacking. The system, though a bit unorganised, works rather well for the rest of the game. Sprites are organised, attacks use the same setup as BN2 and 3 (not sure about 1), chip data is structured...etc.

  • that thing on your side... looks like dreaded joker

  • I don't know how. I saw a video of unused cannon behavior (try typing something among that line) adn I think it also showed unusec test virus and a dummy Megaman boss.

  • hm... if there's someway I can hack that data into the game, I'll happily show it after I beat the game.
