Aside from a knife or edged tool, rope is the most important tool we can bring with us into the wilderness. But rope is useless without knots. Knots make rope work for us, and a knowledge of a few basic concepts will help us use rope efficiently. That will make our stay in the wild much more hospitable. In this multipart series I explain the basic concepts, terminology, types, form and function of the most important knots to know for wilderness camping and survival.

  • Even though "The Blimp" was then only knot I didn't know so far, I congradulate you on making an excellent series ( well, I havent taken a look at the last one yet but I will in a moment ). If you ever do a more advanced series, you should definitely include the Monkey's Fist, I have found so many uses for it, both decorative and functional.

  • Nice stuff. I have tried to do knots from books and never had much luck. Love the knot vids, they help a lot.
