USS Nimitz (CVN 68) recently moved from San Diego to the state of Washington, initially to undergo scheduled maintenance but then for permanent assignment. Join her crew and their families as they make this transition in episode one of this documentary, shot and edited by Nimitz Sailors.

  • My husband was in the navy from 1999-2003 and worked on the Nimitz while it was in dry dock. first in california then it went to Virginia.

  • man we slayed in and old ww2 berthing barge for 6 months 12 to a room that size. they got it made these days.

  • i was on the Nimitz cvn68 out of Bremerton 1989-1992. she was moved over to go to not finished Everett back then. remind me of the old days.

  • Bully recruits? HA you must be joking. If they cant handle getting yelled at then how can the recruit handle getting shot at by hostile enemies that only want to see you dead. This "bullying" is meant to toughen up the recruit so they keep cool during battle. And about the families. Drill instructors work to save the life of the recruit by making them strong enough to handle the punishment of war. The recruits and their fellow soldiers are their families. Also, corporal rank comes after Private.

  • @NosferatuAaacaado americu freedum hell yeauh

  • I like the moment at 05:28 when soldiers are met by their families -it reminds that they are not only "machines to kill" but also ordinary humans.I guess the only ones without families are drill instructors corporals etc. the ones that bully recruits during basic training(push-ups, shouts etc.). I heard that a lot of them have problems with domestic violence because they "transfer" bully attitude from job to homes-I think so...I wasnt in the army fortunately..

  • the new uniorms rock. I hated the prison look dungarees.

  • America defends freedom.... with aircraft carri0rz.

    Yeah, sure.
