Syd Barrett Pink Floyd - "Let's Roll Another One" Rare Track 1967

"Let's Roll Another One" was the original title of "Candy and a Currant Bun," the B-side of Pink Floyd's first single "Arnold Layne." The changes between the official version and this, the original version, are small. The song has no reference in the lyrics to the phrase "Let's roll another one," but it does include the lyric "I'm high! Don't try to spoil the fun." Their record company would not release the song with such a blatant drug reference, so they had Syd change the song. There are a few other lyrical differences between the two versions.

Nice Syd Barrett impersonation but this is NOT Syd Barrett, just someone attempting to sing like him over a remix of the track. If you read the excellent hbook on Syd's recorded works "Random Precision" and you'll find that by the time it came down to the vocal track for this tune there were new lyrics and a new title. Sorry to be Captain Bringdown.

@Wilthomer66 WRONG. This is most certainly Syd Barrett. This alternate take of "Candy & a Currant Bun" appears on the well respected and well researched "Have You Got It Yet" series of Syd Barrett rarities. I posted the song under the title "Lets Roll Another One" because it contains some of the banned lyrics that the band performed when the song was known as "Lets Roll Another One". Any knowledgeable fan of Syd Barrett knows, without question, that his is the voice on this recording.

@Wilthomer66 You know, I think I'm inclined to agree with you. Not cz I read it in a book but just listening. This person doesn't have the weird almost ghostly vocal style that Syd had and the accent is totally wrong. This is NOT Syd.

@OrpheusIsThe1 It seems that you haven't listened to Syd's vocals on the early Floyd singles or on "PATGOD" or the 1965 demos for that matter. Syd's lead vocal on Arnold Layne, Candy & a Currant Bun, Lucy Leave, Lucifer Sam, etc. sound weird and ghostly? Not in my opinion. That comment could certainly be true in reference to his solo recordings, but not on his early vocals. Listen to the officially released version of this song. It's the same vocalist -Syd Barrett.

Syd was great as a co-founder of Pink Floyd and a singer. He died on June 6th , 2006 from complications of diabetes.
