I do agree with you when you say that writing itself is the compulsion to write. And yes I DO believe that the passion you feel for writing can stimulate you alone as a writer.

But I also think that there are other things that can contribute to this drive for writing. They may not relate to YOU yourself as a writer, and that's fine, but they could indeed relate to other writers. Everyone writes for different reasons.
