@SnuffyWuffles Indians isn't really confusing as much as it is derogatory (unless your from India). Originally it was used by the Europeans who saw anyone of different skin color as savages. It didn't matter to them that we were in no way related to Indians, to them we were all the same.

@canadianric True, but one must acknowledge the ease of colloquial language, even if it is historically inaccurate. I propose "native" as the proper way to refer to American Aboriginals from this point forward, as "Native-American" is unwieldy and increasingly vague, while "Indian" is, as you say, a confusing misnomer. Join me in bringing semantic justice to the "First Americans." Yay!
