I would suggest using 1.6mm only, to be on the safe side.

i havent found any 1,2 mm drills at home so i was wondering if one could use something else (a straightened keyring, a nail, etc.) please respond as fast as possible

@lego5engineer 8049 has two cylinders, two switches, and seven hoses. its a good set, lots of technic pieces for only $60

No, I am sorry for you, but that ain't normal. I modified many cylinders and I never had a failure.
