He may be working on a sticking point. Notice how it is difficult for one spot then the weight takes off. He may also be training for the hummer tire deadlift because he is competeing in the 2012 Arnold Strongman Classic March 2-3. I deadlift more off the floor then I do knee high rack pulls. It could be a number of things.
@SupremeSportsPT idk you might be right but im positvly sure its not because of that. i've yet to see some1 lifting more weight off the floor than off platform. im going to guess its because he lost weight. and stopped lifting for meetings since his WC so hes gotten weaker. there is no way he would lift 420KG right now easier off the floor! its always the less ROM the more weight
@muzimuzi Deadlifting from blocks (or out of the rack) can actually be harder depending upon the lifter's weak points. In this case, although the distance the weight has to travel is considerably shorter, he's not able to use as much leg drive as when he's pulling it from the floor.
I always thought his sticking point was from the floor. I mean because he used to train deficit speed deads like a mad man.
