Acamar by cellist/composer Frances-Marie Uitti and composer Yota Morimoto is a followup to their collaborative DVD 13AL. The piece is one of a series of works made by the authors for the 192 loudspeakers in Leiden provided by The Game of Life Foundation. This work explores various musical languages developed through extensive research programming cellular automata in conjunction with triggering the 192 speakers to react in predetermined ways. Use of F.M. Uitti's rare aluminum cello from the 20's incorporates the rigorous exploration of metallic sound sources as a subtheme. Acamar is a star at 'theend of the river,' 120 light-years away from the earth.

  • @kmica2008 People who use World War 2-era racial epithets can't make good comments.

  • @kmica2008 I'm sure you're more talented.

So you don't like it. It's because you're not listening properly and you are likely uneducated with regards to electronic sound processing and extended techniques. This is the kind of music that is better appreciated if you can try and determine if and how the computerist is altering the sounds, and if you're capable of correlating the actions of the performers with the electronic playback. You obviously can't the former and you're obviously not the latter.

Stretch your ears and you'll be surprised at what you just missed.

Her performances are mind blowing and I have heard incredible music from Japanese composers.

Stretch your ears, you're missing the point.

  • japs can't make good music.

regarding this video i can only say this this is a molestation of the art of music, molestation of the instrument, molestation of my visual and audial senses and a complete waste of resources. anyone who created this piece of shit sound pollution garbage should be denied access to all sources of electricity in order to prevent such bullshit ever to get published in this or any other way. zero talent, zero effort, deserves to be rated an absolute zero.

  • sound is good, video less.

  • LOVE IT. Then again, I dare think there's more to music than Western scales and conventional time signatures. :P

  • sounds very good to me

  • Somebody knows how can I get a cello like that and how much it costs?
