I'm an atheist and i can enjoy this song without giving any thought to what the lyrics about...all that matters it that they mean something to me, no matter how i interpret them.

@1stbasemanDrummerJLK To me the hurricane that Jon is talking about is the world that's trying to tell him and all Christians that loving God is wrong. He's taking a stand and saying that no matter what is thrown at him he will continue to live life and love God while he's doing it. The beauty of their music is that it means one thing to different people.

@haydenspears19 2 years, going independent... yeah, it was, not only in their music.

The interpretation is always up to ourselves. For me this hurricane is somewhere between literal meaning and everything that disturbed Tim's relationship with someone. Eventually literal meaning of this song would be kinda not logical.

Do they mean an actual hurricane or are they using the word hurricane to describe something? Anyone know?

This song is so perfect... :D
God gave this guy the gift of musical talent and success
because he is singing the word of our lord.
Unlike many of the others, who forget about Jesus
and sing about sex, drugs, women, men, money, cheating
they even admit that they bargained with the devil.
God blessed Switchfoot with prosperity.
See God works in little ways
Patientence is a virtue and test of faith
