Acela is part of Amtrak

@SketchupDesigns12 The wheels have a conical cut in them. In a corner the inside wheel moves up to a spot on the wheel with a smaller diamater and the outside wheel moves down to a larger diameter. I work for Bombardier and we make bogies that have steering built in and that reduces noise and wheel wear. They are not on this train though.

They look like they run so smooth from Newman

Just How Do The Train Bogies Turn On The Curves?
-
that looks like a proper train

@MrZkr123 and by every train i mean trains that run on the NEC not each individual train have its own rules
-
@AmtrakFanNEC927 its because FRA required amtrak to make the Acela engines heavier which is stupid if u ask me, any train on the NEC should really have its own set of rules compared to the rest of the country when it comes to diesel engines pulling the Superliners and freight yes i agree with heavier engines. But on the NEC they should have the European standards for running equipment.

@hearsedriver1968 and actually learn something about the national transportation network and where the money comes and goes. Just to make myself clear again on the tax dollars... Amtrak: $1.2 billion, Airlines: $30 billion, Highways: $41 billion, Freight Rail: $0.00. Good try, have a nice life.

@hearsedriver1968 ; you clearly presented that when you simply said, "...all your sorry explanations do not change a thing." In reality, they change everything. You don't like the idea of being defeated with clear knowledge in a debate and that's just fine; but you cannot deny the true facts that I have brought to the table. And I am not your "buddy," especially after you made a foolish attempt to portray me as a moron. I owned the debate, get over it...

@hearsedriver1968 Amtrak refurbished it's fleet and the trains are no longer in the sorry state they once were as compared to ten years ago. If you want to cut funding, then let's cut funding for the private airlines, too. And the highways and roadways. You're not too bright, are ya? Yes, you are biased. Your profile clearly presents it; pure ignorance. There's no real point in debating with you since you have no idea what you're talking about...
I heard that only the cars tilt around curves; not the locomotives, but when they travel around the curves, it's easy to see that the locomotives tilt too.

@logo47 The locomotives are far too heavy to tilt. They may appear to be, but thats just the hyper elevated curve. You can see this if you look at a video close up to the train. You will notice the cars are tilting and the locomotives are not.

Good vid, almost perfect except you panned back 2 seconds too soon. If you find a location where there's a curve, and open the vid with a head-on shot, it nearly always works.
BTW, can anyone update us Europeans on plans to expand the US high-speed network? E.g. did the California project get approved last November?

Thanks for the comment! And yes, the CA high speed rail got aprooved. No news on it yet though.
