Farrier Science prepares students as professional, trained farriers able to work on most types of horses. A combination of classroom and lab coursework focuses on equine anatomy as it pertains to farrier science, conformation fault analysis, disease, leg and hoof lameness and corresponding therapeutic measures. I like the idea of combining farrier training with business for a two year degree. Since most farriers own their own business it just makes sense.

I like the idea of people going to school to learn to do such important jobs as putting shoes on horses that need shoes, like my horses. I wish they could go barefoot, but I jump my horses and they HAVE to have shoes. Therefore, I trust a person who has been taught and observed by probably MANY. I would NEVER pay or allow someone to put a nail in my horse's foot unless I was confident that my horse will remain sound. And my horses have white feet. They require proper care.

Too bad you guys don't teach correct trimming. Trimming that actually strengthens the coffin bone and hoof capsule and makes it healthier.
