Part 1 of 2 of my Level 8: Ganon's Tower walkthrough for The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Played in real time on Snes9x v1.43 rerecording with rerecords used to optimize video length.

Equipment checklist: 20 Hearts, Golden Sword, Silver Arrows, 1/2 Magic, Cane of Byrna

- The Golden Sword and Silver Arrows can be obtained by buying a super bomb at the bomb shop north of the Swamp Palace and using it to blow open the cracked wall in the Pyramid. Inside is a fairy pond where you can upgrade your sword and bow.
- The 1/2 Magic upgrade can be obtained by jumping down the well next to the smithy's shop in Kakariko Village and sprinkling some magic powder on the statue within.
- The Cane of Byrna can be found on Death Mountain in the Dark World by jumping off the cliff just below the warp tile by the Mountain Tower and entering the cave on the ledge below.

[00:09] Useless door
Don't waste a key on this door, you can get to the other side of it by going down the right staircase on 2F instead of the left one.

[02:59] Bomb propulsion
There's an invisible path over the pit in this room that you can reveal either by lighting the braziers or by using Ether. However, it's easiest just to blow yourself across with a bomb.

[03:22] Miniboss: Armos Knights
The only difference between these Armos Knights and the ones in the East Palace is that the floor is icy. If you got the Silver Arrows it will only take one hit each to kill them.

[04:47] Flying floor tiles
If you did waste a key on the useless door at the start, you'll need to wait until all of the flying floor tiles in this room have been depleted. Then a chest with another small key will appear.

[06:28] Invisible bridge
There's an invisible bridge between the platforms in this room. Just dash straight left across it.

[06:39] Two paths, one destination
Both the left and right staircases on 2F lead you to this room. However, the left path has the map on it and I find it to be easier.

  • I'm having huge issues at 5:24. I'm mashing A as fast as I can after I place the bomb but it keeps picking it up too slowly, making the explosion happen before it reaches the switch. Is there another way, or am I doing it wrong? I can't get past it.

  • @AxisXIViral You're probably standing too far down. Notice that I'm lined up with the top blue block in the video. If you're below it, the bomb won't make it to the switch.

Alternately, you can use the Cane of Somaria, toss the block onto the conveyor belt, and then use the cane again to split the block and hit the switch.

  • the wall didn't explode when i killed the guys at 2:03...

  • @BronSoloSV You have to step on the right floor switch to blow open the wall. It doesn't matter if you kill the enemies.

  • Whats with the random bomb at 1:15

  • @KavukShadows It's not random. You need to hit the crystal switch there while you're on the other side of the blue blocks, and the only way to do that is with a bomb or a Cane of Somaria block.

  • 5:18

  • how do i go in???

  • at 5:24 you can use the Red Cane and throw the block to the Switch, then use the can again and it activates the switch.

  • god damn i hate the version i hate i came ALL THIS FUCKING WAY AND THE BOMBS BLOW UP TO FAST TO FLIP THE SWITCH UUUGGGHHH

  • your speed suggests you spend the previous year of your life playing this dungeon, and this one alone

  • I wasted the key on that door, what should I do?

  • Now THIS is a walkthrough!

  • @AxisXIViral use the cane method

  • Ganon's Tower is probably the only dungeon you can do two or more different ways. I usually end up muddling through differently every time.

  • when you want to go upstairs when you just finished the right portion, you can use the mirror
