I really don’t understand when being someone who like good things started to mean snob ?? And those people who strive for the best in the world of coffee are also helping poor families in all the areas where the coffee is growing to live a better life by paying them what their green beans are really worth. Those roasters practice what is called the direct trade.

haha wow. Comment sections are always great, and this one doesn't disappoint. I think with anything like this, you have to find a balance between cultured and pretentious. There are going to be some people who'll like anything because it's hip or fancy and others who'll hate it for exactly the same reason. This book is for the rest of us who just want to learn about good coffee. I read and loved it and now brew pour over coffee in my kitchen. Can't wait to find a good shop doing the same.

I really like coffee, live in the San Francisco Bay Area and drink Blue Bottle Coffee. Also I own the book. That said, these people, their book and business are about doing something well, for the pleasure of it. That isn't snobbish, it is an engaging and interesting way to live. This process is inclusive rather than elitist. I have been educated, entertained and inspired by their example…making better coffee is a wonderful bonus that last a lifetime.

I love good coffee and I appreciate those who try to bring it to the rest of us, but this video is annoyingly pretentious and leaves me wanting to hit the nice proprietors with a cream pie.

I thought the video was nice. They are serious about their coffee and you can read that as snobbish, personally I read it as passionate.
