  • @alexander1485 Gas turbines have poor low speed torque, so they don't work well for wheel driven designs because they have minimal torque where it is really required. They can bog down under heavy load, stuck off the bottom of the torque curve, like trying to drive up hill in a gear you can't push.

poor transient repsonse, i.e when you floor it it takes some time for the power to come on, and when you take your foot off it keeps going for a while. With this setup the gas turbine is run at steady throttle the whole time so this isn't an issue. Also the particular gas turbine in quesiton isn't powerful enough, I understand it's a starter i.e. used to start the main gas turbine in a heli.

  • @alexander1485 go read up on gas turbines and you'll have your answer.

  • why not just have the car powered by the helicopter engine? unless thats not allowed

  • @amarsh58 it's the rev limiter light

  • Thats me at the drivers front left, lining up the timing marker with the start.

As for the light flashing, I think it is a rev warning, which comes on at Deer's Leap because he gets a bit light and the wheels loose traction.

  • My guess is gear change light as it flashes during tyre warm up too.

  • I don't like the oil warning light coming on over Deer Leap!!!!!

  • If you listenon the start line you can hear the helicopter turbine whining as it forces air into the turbo. Cracking tool.
