In the spring the ice on the Chena River in Fairbanks, AK thaws enough to break up and flow downriver. The bulk of this event happens over the course of only a few hours and is quite a sight to see.

  • Cool!

  • Scat, I love it here in the Fairbanks/North Pole area. True, it does get rather cold in the winter. I've seen it get down to about 65-70 below 0 Fahrenheit. The Chena river definately gets warm enough to swim in. During the summer its overrun with people.

  • Wendell street bridge.

  • where is this bridge? i have a friend that lives in Fairbanx. never been there myself but i am told it is nice, but cold. is that water pretty clean and does it ever get warm enough to swim in?

  • pretty cool!
