During the early 1990's Bogotá was the capital city of Colombia and by far the "worst city in the world". Doomed by corruption, chaos, poverty and violence, Bogotá was at urban decay.

At the midst of collapse two creative politicians with radically new methods changed the city at a speed never imagined. This is the beautiful story of Antanas Mockus and Enrique Peñalosa two mayors who created citizenship, culture and democracy in a rotted city.

Upfront Films in collaboration of the Danish Film Institut and DR present a film of Andreas Dalsgaard.

  • Simply amazing, and proof that honest politicians exist. Truly a testament to the power of independent officials.

  • Loved this documentary. Two great mayors full of ideas and enthusiasm. A 21st century city MUST be a place for people, not cars or factories.

But one big question, what happened to the people evicted from their homes in the central plaza? The one black spot in what penalosa was trying to do, I think.

  • 7:40 - 9:47 love the summary, in fact this whole documentary sent chills down my spine - it's "unreal". Two people who can never see eye to eye were able to work together for a common goal. In the end, it is Bogota that changed the most.

  • Wow! So much change in a short amount of time. Very impressed.

  • @petrus4 Very true what you said.

  • @MrJohnboy1984 The state of the external environment, is a mirror of the internal state of a people. As above, so below. This video proves that a people must improve their level of morality if they want their cities to prosper.

  • Haven't seen the entire video but what iv'e seen so far from it im impressed, well done to the two mayors for transferring bogota and making it a much better city, my city Perth in Australia is becoming like what Bogota was in the 90's and is detoriating and is being taken over by crime violence drugs poverty and disorder and the mayor of Perth and the other politicians in Perth are useless and are doing nothing to make Perth a better city and they are letting Perth be ruined.

  • Nosotros los Colombianos en genero somos buena gente y Bogota es una gran cuidad

  • Bogotá is truly a remarkable city. Worth visiting and experiencing

  • that was very impressive
