Superstar drummer Brain (Primus / Guns n' Roses) gave a private drum clinic for the young drummers of Youth Movement Records in 2007, as part of his instructional video. He focused on teaching the
young players how to focus on the fundamentals of getting and keeping a solid groove - the essence of good drumming.

@madchops82 I have seen both of them play, and when Herb plays a beat, it has more dynamics, better groove, and his drums just sound better.. not to mention there are more intricacies.. Have you heard Herb on the ADD albums? I am not super familiar with all of Brains playing, but I have seen him play with primus, and to me he sounds much less pro than Herb. I went to a music conservatory for Bass, I know a lot of stuff, but there are self taught bassists who play much better than me.

@gleventhal So is Brain. Have you ever seen his instructional video. Herb couldn't do half that go-go stuff. Not to even mention the ostinato or flat out chops. Brain has it all. Herb is more of a self-taught player. He's good...but not as good as Brain. Shouldn't compare really, but Brain has more knowledge and it shows in his playing.

@ididcramsmom Brain has tons more chops than Herb and a better feeling for the funk and go go. Herb is alright...but...well. ... Watch Brain's video and you'll see how much technique he has and how much he's groovin.
