During the awkward time period when "mainstream metal" was making its transition towards the growl-induced, repetitive clusterfuck it became, Iron Maiden kept REAL metal alive and warm for it's big comeback after the new millenium hit \m/ and Bruce had his own thing going on which was badass as well. Sure, I love them together the best but this was a great era of tunes for both camps regardless.
