the residents were concerned about excessive noise? they must not get out much. trolleys and trolleybuses are much quieter than diesel or diesel-hybrid buses....anyone who has walked around in a city that has both kinds would know that.

I remember when the residents were up in arms about the resumption of streetcar service on Mountain Ave. For a while the city had a curfew on the streetcars and one fo the residents purposely blocked the track with thier auto making it impossible for the streetcar to get back to the carbarn in time for the curfew. The city ordered the Ft. Collins Municipal Ry. to cease operations for the next day as a result.

Great video! It's amazing to think today in 2010 that back in the early 1980's 1/2 the people living along Mountain Avenue were against the resumption of street car operations due to fear of excessive noise and weekly collisions. Listening to them at the time you'd have thought the Burlington Northern mainline was about to be turned west onto Mountain Ave! Remember all the blue "Ban the Trolley" signs?!?
