It gets very hot in the cockpit and US racing does not have the same firesuit requirements that the European racing has. I've seen some racers run in tank tops and barefoot! We are seperated from the engines by a firewall and if there is a fire we jump into the water. Thanks for watching!
Cheers, Nigel

But, requirements vs. common sense. I thought anyone with a sensible mind would wear a firesuit, racing life jacket etc etc. That would help you if you crash. But make more vids without music, the engine is music enough :)

Most US races are in Florida where it is over 100 degrees daytime. None of my boats have air conditioning (weight) and cockpit tempatures can reach 117 degrees! I leave the pits with a bag of ice on my lap (melted by green flag) and frozen water is placed inside the air ducts to circulate and cool the cockpit. I have had heatstoke in Sarasota. In 30 years racing, I've never heard of anyone burning up! I'm racing European P1 and looking forward to cold weather racing!
