In this address, Reagan felt each word and his pain was apparent. After the mass murder at Ft. Hood, I wish we could say the same of President Obama.

Thank you, Reagan. I was a 7th grader watching the shuttle in my first hour class and it has always had a profound effect. His speech later that night was quintessential Reagan, dignified, faith-filled and reassuring. This is what Obama should have done after Fort Hood. I am embarrassed at his inability to step outside of his own narcissism and act like he is moved or touched by other Americans and their pains. Atleast Clinton could sell it.

You can be a big fan of Obama's rhetorical delivery and still admit that this is just masterful. Great rhetoric doesn't observe party lines.

Peggy Noonan wrote the speech? Hmm... Reagan wrote most of his own. I guess this one had to be hurried up.

I kept telling my oldest how wonderful the space program was, and the best thing was to be an astronaut, and he came home after watching the Challenger disaster live at school. He was quiet, and I tried to draw him out. He looked at me with tearful eyes, and said, "Why do you want me to be an astronaut" He was 8. He's 30 now.
