I was 16 when this disaster occurred. I was in my typing class (back in those days computers were still fairly new and not the household standard they are now) and the announcement came over the intercom that Challenger had exploded. I lived near NASA Goddard and a friend's dad had worked on the payload on this mission. :sigh:

As so many, I remember watching this when I was in middle school. And I remember watching this speech in the evening with my parents. One of the best tributes given in the modern era.
