Fable The Lost Chapters running in Ubuntu Linux through wine 1.2, I could only get the game working through safe mode which has no sound and low graphic settings, the game works okay though and installed fine!

  • the fable that i have shows me an error when i reach the start game part..... whats wrong??

  • @PIEDol I never knew you could drag it into the terminal, quite cool thanks for that, and i know that it wont be a problem that is why i told him to use terminal because i did the same thing when having the same problem

  • @Jakejw93 Or, he could simply open the terminal, type "wine " (with a space) then drag and drop the executable into the box, and hit Enter. MUCH simpler. And his problem was that a CD is read-only, and he can't mark the file as executable. That won't be a problem with this method though. You're welcome!

  • @Jakejw93 I've tried everything you've said (i probably messed up somewhere. i'm very new to ubuntu.) but i cant get anywhere. i couldnt even get the terminal to show the media folder. i've looked at all kinds of websites on how to even use the terminal, but i think i'm hopeless haha. is there anything else i could do?

  • @ohyeahitsisaac try and run it in the terminal... apps --> accessories-->terminal, to 'cd ..' twice, then 'ls' this should show you have a media folder so cd into that, 'cd media/' then 'ls' again should show your fable cd, so do cd [fable cd] once in the cd you should 'ls' again and see a setup.exe so type in 'wine setup.exe' and it should run

  • @Jakejw93 i tried opening it with wine, and a error popped up that said "The file '/media/Fable Disk 1/setup.exe' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied form an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit." i got it from a store..i didnt think that counted as untrusted. is there anything i can do?

  • @ohyeahitsisaac Why not update to 10.10..? And the setup.exe file you should be able to just click on it...or right click and open with wine

  • hey, good video, but i have a few questions. i'm using ubuntu 10.04, and fable is one of my favorite games. i dont have any type of Microsoft operating system, ubuntu is all i have. i'm extremely new to gaming on ubuntu/linux, and i put fable disk 1 in the drive, but nothing happens except a "fable disk 1" on my desktop. i have wine installed, but have no idea what to do now. i dont even know how to start the insallation. help would be great
