There are no 'textures' here, only sprites. The walls and such are sprites too.

Yep. Except for the backgrounds (I suck at them), I'm doing all the graphics for this project.

You should make a block/sprite that just increases the levels complete and then disappears forever OR turns into a different sprite, that way you can have 7 or 6 stars per level

While not impossible (in fact, I know how to do it), that would require very long levels to be effective, leaving room for only about 13 levels.
What I'm going for is a game sort of inbetween SMW and 64, so I wanted many levels, while still having multiple ways to complete them. Making use of the 2 exits already available seems to be the best (and easiest) way to do that.

Currently you can find a demo on SMW Central. However, it's full of various errors I hadn't noticed.
The full game probably won't be finished for quite some time.
