  • Thanks, billybob1121, that's an important comment.. I changed the system to get rid of the temp storage bin. Normally the open hose flows directly onto lawn areas only. For the vid, I pinched the end of the hose to make a coarse spray so that the camera could see it flowing. Not much to see otherwise. I'm now doing a rainwater harvesting system which will be able to use a proper hand-held spray. Vid clip coming soon.

  • I cant even imagine all this work to spray your lawn with a half tubs worth of water.

  • I wonder are you using some kind of filter?

  • My system under arpolwest1 is more effective and safe! a) do not handle electrical appliances barefoot you can be electrocuted, fit a safe relay to keep yourself alive, wear dry rubber shoes to avoid becoming yourself a dangerous ground!

    c) if you risk your life apart from the electricity spent is not worth!

    d) regarding pathogens if you are not washing nappies can be quite safe, of course do not irrigate on the edible vegies patch!

    e) Avoid stressing the water pump!

    f) elemental Watson!

  • seems like a waste of electricity to save water, and messy. A syphon system with a one way valved hose would be better for the environment. Alot of effort & power for a small amount of water.

  • Nice and simple yet effective. Hook up your washing machine outlet to the tank, the water can be used to flush the toilet, we just fill up a bucket with grey water and keep it by the toilet.

Check out my new grey water project tilted Money saving pumped grey water system

  • First, gotta say I love the idea of recycling the water.

    But:

This seems way too hard. I can see putting in a connection to the toilet but if this is shower water or bath water do you use organic soap that won't harm the plants? I'd use that in my toilet but not in my garden.

  • just do your pluming and add a filter youll save on the electric

  • Dude, not good "spraying" grey water. Can contain pathogens that become airborne. Much better to use in drip irrigation or similar.
