I saw GP and the Rumor open for Thin Lizzy back in the 70's when "the Boy's Are Back in Town" was a big hit at the Santa Monica Civic and by the end o f his set the crowd was wild for him. I and my buddies were fans immediately, even though we were Zeppelin-type guitar rock fans. Such a dynamic performer and the band with Brinsley Schwartz was incredible. Thin Lizzy was good, was flat by comparison.
