John Quincy Adams was vehemently against slavery and predicted the south's separation over the issue. He preached against it his entire term. The prior presidents weren't enamored with slavery either. Adam's predecessor, James Monroe, even set up a country called Liberia in Africa to return them to . She wasn't that far off the mark. Most Americans have no idea who John Quincy Adams even was ...
Damn PEOPLE! IT's 2011 and you STILL believe there's a difference between the Democrats and Republicans? Damn you're thick. I figured that out in 2000 and I just turned 38.
omg tea party have no concept of american history, fyi tea party the founding fathers were against the tea tax and many americans during that time didnt drink tea they drank coffee instead, so the tea party is pretty dumb
@Nerfball6 you're probably a repulican, I can tell by the sheer magnitude of your ignorance, you should be ashamed of your lack of intelligence. Bachmann is a pathetic excuse for a politician and should be forced to step away from the political forum.
@Nerfball6 but what she said was that John Quincy adams, fought until slavery was ended. when really he was long dead before it ended, and the only reason why it ended was because of States and the Federal Government unwilling to comprimise which led to war. the south hated industrialization, and the north hated slavery. when the west was opened up that is when everything got stirred up because The north wanted more industry, and the south wanted more slavery. and both disagreed, and war sparked
@Nerfball6 Wow.... you really are historically flat-lining. "All men" was all white men and men only and not even all of them. The Civil War was nearly 90 years after 1776. For her to extend the wishes of the founding fathers for 90 years into that period is just nonsense. Bachmann is twisting history and twisting fact and making founding fathers from the political leaders of the day into untouchable saints as the elect of God. Nothing could be more destructive.
