Here is another nice wheelstand, this one from Wendell Howes at the 2007 IHRA North American Nationals at New England Dragway. A little bit sideways in the air as you can see he is steering it in flight.

  • @x19Julius92x Hey thanks for the comments. Just wanted to say that one...he has a wheelie bar, and two...Stock and Super Stock have to stick with factory engine placement, so wheelstands(within reason) actually is the best transfer of power/traction they have. And its my favorite thing about drag racing btw! lol

  • @5191keith He lost on a holeshot. If you notice he went a 9.10 on a 9.10 dial! Great wheelstand and run on the money!

  • Actually if u look at the times he's does win, he runs a 9. n the dodge runs a 10. So I would say he wins right?

  • There is SO much torque if there was NO wheelstand the wheels would just spin. My dad, Jack Troxell is a multi-national ss/aa Super Stock NHRA Racing Champion. He owned the car Defrank and Cohen in the late 80's and had the car dialed in so FREAKING good. Every car he had set records on the daily and won. Its all about getting the whole shot.

  • @5191keith I apologize Kieth , I am unfamiliar with all the Details with racing ...especially bracket racing . I should have read a few more comments before writing. After doing so AFTER writing that comment . Things became more clear... Oh well I would have lost a bet . 'Cause my money would have went with the Cuda .

  • @5191keith What ever dude. 9.10 at 145 but the trans am won with a 10.29 at 128? How does that make sense? What ever I dont care the cuda was faster enough said so dont reply back.

  • @5191keith Hey dude did you even look at what the board said? It still won with a shitty start and a wheelie going almost 20mph faster and more than 1sec quicker finish. So im not sure which video you were looking at.

  • @5191keith what can we say you the man i guess we all understand now ,wow! its all about power and not about driver ability we can put a robot in the car interesting concept NOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

  • @5191keith I think you missed the end of the video ! Pontiac had a 10.29 with a trap speed of 128 MPH . The Barracuda Whomped it's butt BIG after the wheel stand doing a 9.10 with a trap speed of 145 MPH

  • @5191keith ...I have never dealt with a handicap..it is stupid and detracts form power and ability. We agree. I am not making an issue out of anything other than the NHRA is a poorly managed association of which I have no time for...in short...they suck..RR

  • @5191keith ...Look Junior..the handicap system has ruined drag racing..it was designed to give losers a chance at beating a vastly superior car. It came about in the sixties when the Mopar Hemis kicked everybodys ass all of the time. The Tunnel port Ford was another one that was murdering the GM cars. GM bought their way to winning by creating the handicap system. What foolishness. As a result we don't ever go to a drag race where a a handicap is used..to do so is absurd.
