show you how to correctly disassemble the forearm on a mossberg 590.
in 5 minutes show you how to take off the plastic molding from the metal tube using a screwdriver and a butter knife. I suspect some of you who have well broken-in shotguns, will be able to remove the plastic molding without making the small cut on the plastic.. try it, skip the small cutting step..

  • Loosen the nut on the front till half way. Slam the forend down nut first pops backwards loosen a little more repeat process until nut is out. Then take screw driver and use blade sideways to pry rest off way out! Easy no cutting needed. That's mine its a new 590A1 maybe different.

Thank you for the vid Sir! Couldn't have done it with out your help!

  • Very nice man thank you for posting this vid, I have a 500A Tactical with the same forend.

  • @justchilln1424 same here, I just removed my forend with the tool that TAPCO gave me. Basically, I pushed, twist, and pulled the forend off. Now, could it be a later model and MOSSBERG and Sons changed the manufacturing of the forend? They (Manufacturer) should give you the tool to remove the forend. I didn't have to do all that work.

  • The key to the whole deal is the 2 screwdrivers he shows between the tube and forend. From there was able to get mine off with out making a cut on a fairly new 590a1. Thanks for the video.

  • Note, the below method did break the plastic tabs that engage the depressions in the tube. whcih I consider preferable to cutting the foreend. You may want to spray some wd-40 in beween the metal sleeve and the forened to facilitate the process.

  • I did not want to cut the forend of my 590. I screwed the nut back on part way and rapped it with a nylon mallet. That broke the 3 lugs loose. I unscrewed the nut a bit and rapped it again until the nut bottomed again. Then I took off the nut and poked the slide assembly out with the hammer handle, which just fit in the forend. Took about a minute and used one tool.

  • the butter knife was a gd idea but thats all i needed. after a removed the nut pull hard and off went the plastic forend.

  • Damn it, finally!!!! After reading N reading....this is what I was looking to find! A great video!!!! Got a 590A1

  • Great instruction video man. really appreciate that. the put it in a vise and break it approach didn't seem intelligent. really appreciate this.
