@ToriROSE89 the electric fences we have at my barn do a kind of pulsating. Which in other words means you may touch it once and have it not shock you, but another time you can touch it and it will shock you. If you hold on to the wire it will shock... pause... shock... pause and repeat. In my experience touching these fences it's not bad, if it didn't bother me when it's made for larger animals it shouldn't bother them too much. They just get spooked and don't want that experience again.

too cute! He is a stunning horse! I have a half arabian and they are just amazing breeds! Gorgeous horses and ignore all the stupid comments about how "bad" electric fencing is. I believe it's much safer than other fencing, and the horse learns quickly that they shouldn't get close to it.

Most horses at the farm I work at do fine with plain wood fencing, but we did have a couple that ABSOLUTELY NEEDED electric fencing or they would lean on the fence until it broke. Once when the electric wasn't working, the horse figured it out and actually leaned so hard that he snapped the huge wooden post. We also used an electric fence for a horse that always ruined our fences by chewing. It worked well and isn't abusive since they only get shocked if they lean on it. They learn quickly.

@KitKatBrie ...yeah my pony do fence walking and he jumps electric and sometimes wire fences so there is no way to keep my pony in a paddock xD

electric fences are just fine... ive been shocked by them a multitude of times. it doesn't hurt at all, it just catches you off guard enough to get your attention. it's not something you would nessisarily choose to experience (which is why once a horse touches one, they stay away later) but if you do happen to get shocked, it's really not all that "shocking"

it is best....even tho its dangerouse but it prevent from loose horses, eating wooden fences and preditors from coming in. so all of you guys shut up. you dont know what the hell you are talking about.

cute horses! love the foal, does the electric fence hurt if they touch it or just kind of spook them?
There is nothing wrong with electric fencing, it is much safer than wire fencing and wood fencing, and it prevents the horse from "fence walking" We had a horse we sold, warned the owners she would walk along the fence linelooking for a weak spot in the fencing to escape. It also keeps them from pushin the fencing over to get to the other side for grass. It's much safer than wood or wire

No!! Why on earth should i think electric fencing should be banned?? Please, enlighten me, Electric fences are perfectly safe and PREVENT horses from going through other wise unsafe areas of fencing.
