1993. What a year, as it was probably one of the best years in my life when it came to Candlepin bowling. This was shot at Pilgrim Lanes in August of 1993, and the top 5 bowlers competing were: Al Johnson, Craig Holbrook, Jeff Atkins, Brian McKinley, and Tom Olszta.

Here is part 9 of the 1993 Channel 5 Candlepin Bowling Championship Show. Enjoy! :)

  • I wonder how much money Olszta won on channel 5 in his career?

  • @6969ok69 Tom won 4 Championship shows, 1 for $5,000 and 3 others for $10,000 (including this one) so that's $35,000 right there, plus all of his other appearances on the regular show which happened over 80 times, along with the bonus money I'd say probably near the $75,000-$100,000 mark.

  • @Wolfman12395 And he converted the big 4 split.

  • That 4-6-7-10 split conversion was asome. Olszla is GOD!

  • Tom Olszta was four time Candlepin Champion what were the other years he won wichI know his first was in 85.

  • 2:24 was a lucky shot.

  • @semtex2you In all due fairness, very few legends of sports are NOT cocky. :-) Jordan, Tiger, Ruth, Ted Williams just to name a few.

  • @overweight1995 along with $1,500 in 1991......and if you say, an average of $200 in bonus money for 90% of those shows......you're actually looking at about $135,000-$140,000

  • @Wolfman12395 Tom won 4 championships, and then he was runner-up for $5,000 another 4 times (1986, 1989, 1992, 1994) and won $2,500 in 1988, along with $1,250 in 1987......then he had at least 2 triple strikes ($2,000) and one 4-bagger (another $2,000).....he had 75 regular-season appearances, and at $600 for winning every match (before 1984) and $700 for winning every match after '84, that right there is almost (if not more than) $50,000.....so in all, Tom Olszta probably won about $120,000

  • @Wolfman12395 They say he took the money he won on that show, to buy a house

  • @thecheftz

i know u posted this a year ago, but yes you can curve it if you throw it slower... but you don't need to curve it
