Q is out of shape and has not schooled his turnarounds in about 4 months... Allison has a neck and back injury that's been a bit longstanding but that is flaring up today, and a new shoulder injury. Hence no saddle - nothing heavy to lift! They have a great partnership and love each other very much. :-)
So the technical issues: Ally is a bit locked up in her midsection and seat, I'm guessing due to her back flare up. Q loses his pivot hind during the turnarounds. His turns on the forehand were pretty nice though. He has only been ridden once every 2 weeks or so while she's been in school, but now it's SUMMER, YAY! (He is free lunged in his huge long turnout area 5 days per week to try to keep him in at least a bit of shape...) In general, the big picture: a trainer told us Allison would never be able to ride him as he is "too much horse." She has worked long and hard to get him this calm and reliable. Good job Allison!
Please note: the bay horse in the background is in a "Blocker Tie Ring" on its loosest setting. It is not safe to actually have a horse tied with that long of a line!
