But I wonder why a lot of pros can't seem to shoot off the dribble ?

i dont see why you HAVE to bring the ball to ur knees. i bring it down towards that direction and thats good enough. bringing it straight down to my knees was actually affecting my shot negatively.

@DontTakeCrack When you shoot off the catch you should not lower the ball. When you shoot off the dribble, pick the ball up at the shooting side knee to change forward, sideward or backward momentum to upward momentum and jump straight up to shoot a jump shot, rather than floating to the front, side or back.
