Yeah the shadow birth sequence was dead on, but Martin's implication of sex between the two is apparently not heavy enough for me. Men whispered that the two must be lovers but never within the hearing of Kingsmen or Queensmen as it impugned Stannis and his wife's honor. In all their scenes the only bodily fluids they exchange is when she pricks his finger for blood. Remember, he is married and always adheres to the Andal laws regarding marriage and fidelity.So this revelation is a surprise

It was heavily implied in the books and confirmed by George RR Martin that Stannis and Melisandre has a sexual relationship. In fact, that was how the shadow assassin was created hence Davos' line in the books "He knew that shadow, as he knew the man that cast it"

I like Stannis in the books better! Having him have sex with Melisandra is so out of character! I hate his wife 'Queen Selyse of the Florents' but it was supposed to be her who was the slavish convert to the Red God not Stannis. This makes Stannis look like a slave to Melisandra's ass not a cynical, angry man looking for power! The series writers are also giving Davos too much influence too early at this point.

That is true, but as we can see the show is not following the book completely.

Adding a few things to a character's story and spicing up the screen time with sex scenes is nothing bad. Maybe a bit awkward, but I can imagine they went all the way with the intimate scenes since the show is not cutting us back on blood and violence. This can be just as disturbing as gay sex scenes to some.

By George, true that! I think it is completely unnecessary. I do not think it is the best way to fight for acceptance in the society. It is nothing personal, because behaviour and personality are completely different aspects of the same individual. I may like my dof, I may even adore it, but there are some things he is doing that I find repulsive and do not want to see. Not a fortunate comparison, I know, but if the dog is man's best friends, it is called for.

Not necessarily, it wasn;t so explicit in the books. it is just a way to attract wider audience to the screen. A good show can defend itself with its plot content, not cheap thrills. I see no reason to include explicit sex scenes in every second TV series now. Especially those that are not neutral.
