Here's a heart warming film of the clearly delighted Kevin Austin, one of our horticultural supervisors, standing in our outdoor banana plantation talking about Eden's first outside fruiting bananas. The bananas are the Musa basjoo, common name Japanese banana, which as you can see from the film has striking foliage - large bright green leaves, arching up from a main stem. Actually you can eat the banana of the musa basjoo but it is considered not edible because it has many hard seeds it. Flavour wise it's nothing special but you don't die from eating them. :D

@atah275 Yes, basjoo is definitely a cool plant! :-) I grow mainly edibles. Have typical fruits (cherry, apricot, plum, peach, nectarine, apple, etc. of multiple different varieties), & more exotic like: jaboticaba, different fruiting bananas, pitahaya, tons of citrus, different avocados, persimmons, kiwi, passionfruit, different berries, loquat, pomegranate, fig, guava, sapotes, grumichama, sapodilla, mango, cherimoya, etc.

@Alina674 its still pretty cool plant though. My musa basjoo reached 12-14ft this year before i had to cut it down for the winter, Ottawa,Onatrio,Canada. Hey Alina674 are you into gardening, and do you grow any types of exotics
