  • OMG. This is a fantastic video.

I must commend you on the stillness of it!...tripod?

Scenery, is just amazing! Rangitoto, blue sky! Amazing

  • @noisie1 Unfortunately no room for a tripod when sat in an aircraft seat but thanks for your acknowledgement. Just me and my little hand held digital camera. What a way to see in the New Year in New Zealand. Turned on the perfect weather for me. I'm about to load a nice one for a take-off I did from Sydney recently on a gorgeous day also so watch out for that one too.

  • I heard that when flying NZ1 AKL-LAX-LHR, u need to clear US immigration, what about hong kong? im assuming u dont have to

  • @airlinepilotdude When flying AKL - HKG - LHR and v.v. and you are checked in all the way from AKL - LHR then no there is no need to clear HK immigration in HKG. You do need to clear security to enter the Terminal as part of the transit so watch how much liquid you carry.

  • great vid !

the seat was perfect for filming and the 744 is a legend !

    nice 5 stars !

The landing was also very smooth !

    thks

  • Two weeks ago I flew a QANTAS 747 from Singapore to Mebourne. The dam thing rattled when we took off, rattled and shook when we landed, was so uncomfortable the whole flight, and the food was crap! Air New Zealand is SO much better!

  • @andyjay729 It would be too long a time cooped up in a plane if an airline did not stop between LHR and AKL!

  • Interesting to see a 747-400 doing this Air NZ route - I recall in 2009 Air NZ generally used the 777 for the Auckland-Hong Kong London route, and the 747 for the Auckland-Los Angeles-London route.

When travelling to London from Auckland I recommend doing one route for the way there, and the other for return.Flying over via HK I saw the vast landscapes of China & Russia (one could see towerblocks, motorways and polluted lakes from the air), and to LA the untouched wilderness of Greenland.

  • nYC videO

  • @andyjay729 There are no non-stop flights if that is what you are asking but there are daily services from LHR with an enroute stopover. Only 2 hours on the ground at that stopover point. Air New Zealand flies to Auckland via Los Angeles (NZ1) on a daily basis and via Hong Kong (NZ38) on a daily basis at certain times of the year and 5 times a week at other times. See airnewzealand co uk for more information.

  • @AirNewZealandUK Are there any direct flights from LHR to AKL? (PS: The first time I went to Europe was on ANZ's LAX-LHR run.)

  • Very good video!

  • @dutchbhproduction It's cause Air NZ pilots are some of the best. :)

  • I wish you had started recording just 2 more minutes earlier.. I would have seen my house!!
