  • May I ask about the bandage on your wrist? As an oboe player myself I've been developing wrist issues and I'm quite worried about it, thanks!

  • @MissCeliaSanders I was actually recovering from a dislocated thumb! If you are having some wrist issues you can look into a number of alternative thumb rests or something like a FRHED stand. When you practice try to look in a mirror to see if your wrist is bent in a funny angle. Sometime just changing that a little can help a lot!!!

  • I love most of this, I will say, there is one note that keeps sounding flat at like 5:07, and then in the same excerpt is still flat, but it's still really pretty.

  • @Mahlerlover21 definitely the C's! I over scraped this reed and it was getting really saggy so i'm glad someone else noticed this! I've got a different reed for the audition and I'll just hope that I don't run into the same problem :) Thanks so much!!!!

  • @joethemusician and also the Bs! lol :) most of the middle lower notes are really flat! good ear!

  • Joe, I'm a woodwind player from Canada. Done lots of long run shows and tours. I love your attitude. So many people lack confidence and inertia. You've got both and talent. Keep going...you're happening. John Price, Ancaster,ON Canada

  • hey...u kinda good:)

  • Mozart always needs work to be listenable. Great Ravel and Rimsky-Korsakov! I like your videos, man.

  • This is really good! I play oboe and I was working on the 2nd movement of this in 8th grade. I have region orchestra auditions next week and I'm a freshman playing against sophomores and up! do you have any tips? I am also looking for new places to order reeds.

  • Hey play saxophone I'm a junior and was wondering what helps you when switching from tenor to alto(I've been playing tenor since sixth grade and have a good sound on it and I just started back playing on alto to get used to the sound and my sound on alto isn't as good as it is on tenor any help would be appreciated

  • Any bias I may have aside, you are a good oboist. You have a nice sound. Nice articulation. You have a great control over your reed. I'm not familiar with the works, so I can't judge you on accuracy and tempo, but I'll assume you have no issues with that because of how much you practice and all of your current credentials. You would be a great addition to an orchestra.

I don't have to tell you to keep trying. I know you will and you WILL get into an orchestra of your desire.

  • Hi Joe! Good to see you buddie. Good luck! Cool t shirt too.
