A severe thunderstorm of wicked proportions approaching and developing overhead, showing complex circulation patterns. To the eye there seemed to be rolling clouds that would be the precursors of tornados. Earlier in the day thunderstorms to the west had spawned a tornado that touched down near Sundre Alberta. This movie was taken from my yard east of Calgary. There was lots of lightning happening as well but none of the short exposures in this time lapse were lucky enough to capture a bolt. The strong outflow winds can be seen blowing the grass around. I kept shooting until the rain starting pelting the camera and the wall of rain began to arrive. Then it was run for cover!

This was shot with an 8mm fish-eye lens for a 360° view suitable for projection in a digital planetarium theatre with a tilt-dome screen. Next time, I shoot with a faster frame rate -- things were changing too fast for the one-frame per 10 second rate I was using.
