you obviously didn't watch the whole movie because the dad was really a closet homosexual. he was more angry at himself and his life and just used the happy homosexual neighbors as his outlet for his hatred. this is why you see people on tv railling against gays, cause they really hate themselves.

the movie is about - hypocrisy: the blonde character Angela Hayes who professes to be a "slut" but happens to be a virgin, the "homophobic" US marine who happens to be gay, and the "righteous wife" who happens to fool around, and like the real estate KING said in many words: "show an image of success in order to be successful"
